Bill Compton killed Longshadow, a vampire, for Sookie, which is a grave offense amongst the vamps. Eric, Pam, and Longshadow’s replacement show up at Bill’s home to inform him he must appear in front of the Magister (a vamp judge). Unsure of his punishment, Bill informs Sookie he may be going away for awhile. He asks Sam to look after her in his absence, Sam of course says yes because he’s still madly in love with Sook. Sookie of course wants to go with Bill, but Bill refuses. Bill leaves Merlotte’s with the Sheriff to face his destiny…
Bill Compton is being charged for the death of Longshadow. In the middle of a Louisana dessert in the middle of the night, we see Bill standing in front of Magnus, Eric in the background, encircled by a group of vampires. Everyone is watching the vampire before him face his sentence. In this case, this vampire fed on a human that didn’t belong to him, and his fangs were torn out, and he was forced to starve for 3 months.
“Eric Northman, bring me your murderer,” the Magister states.
“You decreased our numbers at a critical time in history…”
Bill declared he had killed Longshadow to protect his human, Sookie. Magnus was not effected by his statement. Bill then reveals that Longshadow was stealing from Eric’s bar Fangtasia, and he acted out to protect his Sheriff’s wealth. Eric has Bill’s back, and mentions Sookie’s value to them.
The usual sentence is to be chained with silver chains inside a coffin for 5 consecutive years, this would lead to Bill’s insanity.
The Magister takes a second, and decides he’s feeling a bit creative. “Bill Compton, you owe us a life.”
The trunk of a car pops open, and a teenage, red-headed girl is thrown to the ground. She sits there sobbing, praying to Jesus to get her out of this situation, and apologizes for sneaking out of her parents.
“There’s no help for you child…”
The young girl pleads to Bill to not let them kill her. A sympathetic, uneasy Bill looks down at the girl and tells the Magister he’ll take the coffin punishment.
“Meet your maker..”
Bill hesitates, but realizes this is what has to be done to save him, and Sookie.
The girl is dragged closer to Bill, and he approaches her. Bill’s never been a Maker before at this point, but is aware of the procedure. The young girl is crying, curled up on the ground as Bill brings her to her feet. “Are you a Christian?” she asks. Bill begins glamoring her, we learn the girl’s name is Jessica.
“I hate to interupt, but glamor is not permitted..”
“SHES JUST A GIRL,” Bill shouts.
Jessica screaming, kicking, fighting for her life, is held by the comforting Bill. “Forgive me,” he says before he sinks his fangs into her neck.

I love her as a vampire, but I do feel sad for her that she can’t see her family and the how bad she was crying, broke me heart.
